Abstract

Therapeutic molecules derived from artificial and plant sources have been considered to be possessing high significance in health sector in general and for the treatment of Cancer in specific, plant sources have been considered more so expecting high efficacy and wider economic availability. The current study has proved potential anti-cancerous efficiency, of Gymnacranthera farquhariana, using acetone and ethanol leaf and bark extracts on HEK 293, MCF-7 and A549 human cell lines in an in vitro cell-based assay as that of standard drug Cisplatin. The results of the present findings strongly suggest the potential of G. farquhariana leaf and bark as a source for the discovery of novel anticancer agent. The extracts also showed comparable results both in vitro MTT assay and statistical analysis. In vitro cell-based assay promises to be a useful, reliable and rapid method for demonstrating chemotherapeutic drug activity. It is a pioneering understanding that G. farquhariana has curative impact on breast and lung cancer cell lines strongly indicating the need for further consideration for pharmacological process and studies.
