Abstract

Grapes are a major fruit of temperate climate and are widely produced in different countries of the world from commercial point of view. India is counted as a major producer among grape producing countries. Here grapes are being produced on a large scale even in tropical areas. To date 4 cultivars have been developed as well as the compilation of performance data for several more cultivars. Considering consumer demand, market price, climatic conditions, quality, suitability of grapes for final consumption, performance of grape vines against diseases and pests, cost of production, yield, etc., today ICAR-National Research Center on Grapes Angoor Till date 4 varieties (Manjari Naveen, Manjari Medica, Manjari Shyama and Manjari Kishmish) have been developed.
