Abstract
In this study the hydraulic characteristics of V-notch of angle 450 have been studied experimentally. A series of laboratory experiments have been conducted to investigate the value of discharge coefficient of various liquids. V notch of 450 was fixed across the flow channel, an experiment was conducted to find discharge coefficient of liquids such as normal water of room temperature, cold water, hot water, mud water, and Engine oil mixed water. In this work various liquids of densities are calculated and liquids were compared and studied. The discharge coefficient for normal water was found out and recorded. The water was heated to 600c and then its discharge coefficient was found out at various flow rates. Then water was cooled to 40c by the addition of ice cubes and its discharge coefficient was found out. Sand dust of size 400 μ of 2% and 4% by weight was added to the total volume of water and then its discharge coefficient was found out and further additional 2% of sand dust was added to the mixture whose discharge coefficient was found out. Engine oil of 1% and 2% of volume of water was added to the known volume of water and its discharge coefficient was found out and additional 1% engine oil of volume of water was added to the mixture and its discharge coefficient was found out. A graph was plotted representing discharge coefficient of various liquids.Downloads
