Abstract

The rapid growth in population in urban area has given rise to the increase in construction of multi storey buildings in urban area to reduce the pressure of accommodation. In recent time designing aesthetically beautiful and complex buildings which has irregularities in plan, vertical irregularity, mass irregularity etc are done. But for high rise multi storey building the wind loads and seismic loads play dominant role. Buildings with irregularities suffer more damage than regular buildings when subjected to wind and seismic loads. Bracings, shear wall are some of the structural elements which can resist lateral loads. Bracings are highly effective and economical method of resisting seismic and wind loads. The objective of this study is to study the behaviour of building with bracings and without bracings under different seismic and wind zones using ETABS 2016 software. In this project the bracings selected are X bracings, v bracings, inverted v bracings. The bracings which gives better lateral resistance is found after analysis. In this project seismic analysis is done in two methods Response Spectrum analysis and Time History analysis and the deviation in results between the two methods are investigated.
