Abstract
In this Study of the project work the hydraulic characteristics of Broad crested weir have been studied experimentally. A series of laboratory experiments have been conducted to investigate the value of discharge coefficient of various liquids. A weir was fixed across the flow channel, an experiment was conducted to find discharge coefficient of liquids such as normal water for room temperature, cold water, hot water, mud water, oil mixed water. The discharge coefficient for normal water was found out and recorded. The water was heated to 750c and then its discharge coefficient was found out at various flow rates. Then water was cooled to 500c by the addition of ice cubes and its discharge coefficient was found out. Sand dust of size 300 μ of 1%, 2%, 3% by weight was added to the total volume of water and then its discharge coefficient was found out and further additional 1% of sand dust was added to the mixture whose discharge coefficient was found out. Engine oil of 1% of volume of water was added to the known volume of water and its discharge coefficient has to be find out for future work and additional 1% engine oil of volume of water was added to the mixture and its discharge coefficient has to be find out for future work. A graph is to be plot to representing discharge coefficient of various liquids. The discharge coefficient of various liquids has to be compared and studiedDownloads
