Abstract

Data is the new asset and whoever has the data has the ability to control the markets. Just like everything else, data tool can be obtained in numerous ways. Some ways are legilitame and others are illegitmate. With the digitization of economies data is also now being stored in digitial form. This has made the storage of data convenient but has also increased the instances of data leak and data theft. The paper seeks to address the points at which data is most vulnerable and needs protection. Not only this, the paper also seeks to ascertain whether the laws are adequate to curb the rising problem of data leak or not. The paper would also explore the options available to the victim which can be utilized to reduce the damage caused by such leak. The paper would further suggest ways in which the law can be modernized to tackle the rising problem of data leaks.
