Abstract
Macromitrium Bridel and Entodon C. Muell., two important pleurocarpous moss genera with four species viz., Macromitrium moorcroftii (Hooker and Gerv.) Schwägr., Macromitrium sulcatum (Hooker) Bridel, Entodon laetus (Griffith) A. Jaeger and Entodon nepalensis Mizushima are described from Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve of central India. Entodon nepalensis is new to India in the present state of our knowledge and the rest except Macromitrium sulcatum are new addition to the moss flora of Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve. All the four species are rupicolous and well adapted to lower elevation and higher temperatures prevalent at the central Indian belt.
