Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF TEA SCIENCE

Journal Information
International Journal of Tea Science (IJTS), the journal devoted exclusively to Tea Science, provides
an excellent platform for publication of research papers on tea science related research. IJTS carries original
research papers, review articles, short communications. The journal publishes papers on tea research related to
crop production (viz.agronomy, breeding, soils, nutrition, botany, chemistry, control of pests diseases &
weeds) technology of processing, quality, storage, marketing and related aspects. The IJTS is dedicated to
collection, preservation, documentation and dissemination of tea-related researches and their applications.
International Journal of Tea Science invites original research articles and reviews, not submitted for
publication elsewhere. The review article will only be entertained if author(s) has included his own research
work in it or has been an authority in that field. Authors, who wish to submit a manuscript, should consult and
peruse carefully recent issues of IJTS for format and style.

time of submission of the manuscript:

The copyright of the paper will be transferred from the author to publisher. One original and two printed
copies of themanuscript should be submitted to the editor. The manuscript can/should also be submitted as an
e-mail attachment.The manuscripts, after review by expert referees, will be sent back to the author(s) along
with their comments. For resubmission,two copies of the revised version of the manuscript, or a copy on
compact disc (CD) using wordprocessing software such as MS Word (version 6 and onwards), or PDF files
(version 4 and onwards), or as anattachment to e-mail should be submitted to the editor. A detailed note should
also be included to clarify, point-wise,how comments of individual referees have been addressed.
Preparation of the Manuscript:
Manuscripts should be typed in double space (11 pt, Times New Roman font preferred) on one side of
the bond paper of 22×28 cm. All pages should be numbered sequentially. Use SI units, and give equivalent SI
units in parenthesis when the use of other units is unavoidable. Symbols should conform to standard
guidelines.

Format of the Manuscript:

Title It should be short & informative (15 pt), type only first letter of the first
word in capital; also, after colon or hyphen, first letter of the first word
capital. Latin names are to be given in italics.
Short Running Title Not in excess of 50 characters, all capitals.
Keywords Five or six keywords (in normal; 9 pt) indicating the contents of the
manuscript.
Authors Names of authors; first letters capital (10 pt).
Addresses of Authors Addresses of the institution(s) where the work was carried out including
telephone (office only), fax number and e-mail address (9 pt). Author for
correspondence should be identified with an asterisk (*).
Main (1st Order)
Headings
Each manuscript should be divided into the following main headings
(typed in bold, first letters capital, on the left hand side of the page; 11
pt): Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion,
Acknowledgement, and References.
Sub (2nd Order)
Headings
Typed in flush left, bold, first letters capital (9 pt).
Sub-Sub (3rd Order)
Headings
Bold-Italics, first letters capital (9 pt).
Abstract Should be brief not exceeding 200 words, typed in normal (9 pt).
Introduction A brief and precise literature review with objectives of the research
undertaken and essential background to be given.
Methodology Methodology should include location, the source and nature of material,
experimental design and the techniques employed.
Results Results should contain data, which are essential for drawing main
conclusion from the study. Wherever needed, the data should be
statistically analysed. Same data should not be presented in both table
and figure form.
Discussion and
Conclusions
The discussion should deal with the interpretation of the results.
Wherever possible, results and discussion can be combined. Repetition
of what is stated under “Abstract” should be avoided to the extent
possible under “Conclusion”.
Tables Tables should be typed neatly and numbered consecutively. The table
headings should be typed in bold format. Credits of the original

Figures The illustrations, photographs, etc. will be accepted in TIFF files or in JPEG
format (of more than 300 dpi or 1 MB in size for better print quality). Text
figures should be numbered in Arabic numerals. Captions and legends to
illustrations should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Illustrations,
photographs, tables and such supporting data should come in the text itself
for the convenience of ready reference while reading the text.
Acknowledgement Authors may acknowledge the facilities, financial and other assistance
extended.
References References should be cited in the text by the consecutive numbers of their
occurrence; the numbers are to be shown as superscript numbers at the end
of the statement related to that particular reference, e.g. Tea is a nonalcoholic
beverageused throughout the world. Tea plant (Camellia sinensis)
belongs to the family Theaceae and indigenous to south-east
Asia.1Following the same sequence of the text, the list of references be
appended under the References heading. Each reference should provide
names and initials of all the authors, coma and ‘&’ before the last author to
separate the names of the authors. It should be followed by title of the paper,
abbreviated title of journal (in italics), volume number, year of publication
(within circular bracket), and the starting and closing page numbers.
Abbreviated titles should conform to the international guidelines, e.g. The
Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI) or BIOSIS.
