Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is the second most consumed vegetable around the world with a production of 159.02 mt from 4.73 mha area (Vanitha et al. 2013). According to FAO, it is a part of healthy and balanced diet with per capita consumption of 19 kg per year. Tomato provides vitamins C and B with minor quantities of E and A, minerals and carotenoids which acts as antioxidants. According to FAO, Vitamin A deficiency is public health problem in >118 countries.
