Abstract
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is the world’s most popular and widely used vegetable crop. India ranks second in the world tomato production (18.7 million tonnes) (Press Information Bureau, 2015-16). It is known as protective food because of its special nutritive value. Many diseases affect tomato during the growing season. Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum Yubuuchi affects tomato cultivation and causes heavy yield losses especially during rainy season. Repeated cultivation of tomato in the same field aggravates the problem due to buildup of inoculums.
