Abstract

This paper describes the MATLAB/Simulink realization of the DC motor speed‎ control methods, namely field resistance, armature voltage and armature resistance‎ control methods, and feedback control system for DC motor drives. These simulation‎ models are developed as a part of a software laboratory. The proposed simulation models are combined with previously developed Simulink models‎ of induction motors. MATLAB with its toolboxes such as Simulink and SimPower Systems is one of the most popular software packages used by educators to enhance teaching the transient and steady-state characteristics of electric machines. Simulink models have been successfully integrated into an electric machinery course as a part of the software laboratory.
