Abstract
This paper describes the MATLAB/Simulink realization of the DC motor speed control methods, namely field resistance, armature voltage and armature resistance control methods, and feedback control system for DC motor drives. These simulation models are developed as a part of a software laboratory. The proposed simulation models are combined with previously developed Simulink models of induction motors. MATLAB with its toolboxes such as Simulink and SimPower Systems is one of the most popular software packages used by educators to enhance teaching the transient and steady-state characteristics of electric machines. Simulink models have been successfully integrated into an electric machinery course as a part of the software laboratory.
